Profile Coach Shin Tae-yong

Shin Tae-yong (born April 11, 1970) is a South Korean former professional footballer and manager who is the current head coach of the Indonesia national team. Prior to this, he was the head coach of South Korea's national team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He is the first person to win the AFC Champions League (formerly Asian Club Championship) as both a player and a manager, having won the 1995 Asian Club Championship and the 2010 AFC Champions League with Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma.

2014: Assistant Coach, South Korea National Team

Shin Tae-yong's coaching journey began in August 2014 when he was appointed as the assistant coach of the South Korea national team. Under his guidance, South Korea made a remarkable run to the final of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, marking their first appearance in the tournament's final after 27 years. While the official head coach at the time was Uli Stielike, Shin played a pivotal role in shaping the team's tactics and training strategies.

2016: Coaching the U-23 Team and U-20 World Cup

Shin's responsibilities expanded as he concurrently took on the helm of the South Korea U-23 team, leading them to the 2016 Summer Olympics. The team emerged as group champions, amassing 7 points against Germany, Mexico, and Fiji. However, their impressive run was halted in the quarterfinals by Honduras.

On November 22, 2016, Shin's focus shifted to the South Korea U-20 team as he was named their head coach, preparing them for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup hosted in their home country. He stepped away from the senior team to fully concentrate on the U-20s. In the World Cup, South Korea finished second in their group with 6 points, advancing to the knockout stage. However, their journey ended in the Round of 16 with a defeat to Portugal.

2017: Taking Charge of the Senior Team and World Cup Qualification

After Shin's departure from the South Korea senior team, Stielike's underwhelming performance in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers led to his dismissal by the Korea Football Association. On July 4, 2017, Shin was appointed as the new head coach of the senior team, replacing Stielike. In December, he led South Korea to victory in the 2017 EAFF Championship, securing a 4-1 triumph over rivals Japan in the final. Despite two goalless draws, Shin's team secured their ticket to the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia, where they faced Sweden, Mexico, and defending champions Germany. South Korea suffered defeats against Sweden (0-1) and Mexico (1-2), but they stunned the world with a 2-0 victory over Germany.

2019: Embarking on the Indonesian Coaching Journey

On December 28, 2019, Shin's coaching career took a new turn as he was appointed as the head coach of the Indonesia national team, replacing Simon McMenemy. He signed a four-year contract.

2020-2022: AFF Championship Final and AFC Asian Cup Qualification

Despite a challenging start to his tenure during the second round of 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Shin's leadership guided a young Indonesian team with an average age of 23.8 years to the final of the 2020 AFF Championship. In June 2022, he achieved a remarkable feat by leading Indonesia to the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, ending their 16-year absence from the quadrennial tournament. This qualification was secured through a 2-1 victory over Kuwait and a resounding 7-0 win against Nepal in the final match, earning them a spot in the AFC Asian CUP 2023

Final Exam: Writing Opinion

Name: Eka Yanurizka  Student id: 2520230005 Subject: English paragraph writing  Final exam 1. It is better to make mistakes when learning a new skill, so you can learn from the errors Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Write specific reason and examples to support your answer. From my personal experience, a mistake is something that we all should experience. Especially when we're learning a new skill. So I definitely agree with this statement. When we're getting old day by day, we have to realize that everything in this world doesn't have to be perfect, including us. Example: When you have something to achieve for your future and then you make a big plan to achieve that, but unfortunately your plan doesn't go well, it means there's a mistake, there's something wrong with your plan, and you have to fix that. You have to try again with a better plan. Because we had experienced a mistake before, we could take that as a lesson. Believe me, a mistake is a t...

Opinion paragraph: Islamic university As-Syafiiyah

Do you know As-Syafiiyah Islamic University? As-Syafi'iyah Islamic University is a private university located on Jalan Jatiwaringin Raya Number 12, Jaticempaka, Pondok Gede, Bekasi, West Java. This university is a link of KH. Abdullah Syafi'ie's pioneering and concern for Islamic education and the development of the quality of the ummah. This university is also a development of the As-Syafi'iyah Islamic Education Academy (AKPI) which was established on November 14, 1965, and on March 12, 1969 the AKPI was upgraded to a University. In my opinion, As-Syafiiyah Islamic University developed because it successfully combined the conventional form of Islamic education tradition and formal education with government school standards up to the secondary level. Because of this success, K.H. Abdullah Syafi'ie felt compelled to think about and realize the development of formal education at a higher level.  Firstly Universitas Islam As-Syafi'iyah (UIA) represents a signific...
